Christian Bale said "I tend to think you're fearless when you recognize why you should be scared of things, but do them anyway." I love this. I think this is the second quote we've gotten from Christian Bale. He's a talented actor... I just watched a movie with him in it... he's almost unrecognizable because he did such an amazing job of becoming the character. He is amazing! He can be a good guy or a bad guy... you love him when you're supposed to... you dislike him when you're supposed to... and you fee sorry for the character when that was the aim. He can do... pretty much whatever he wants. Maybe it's because he's fearless! Scared of doing something... but doing it anyway! Great job Christian!

Thomas Aquinas said "If the highest aim of a captain were to preserve his ship, he would keep it in port forever." I love this quote. I think we may have had this one shared in the past. Either way, it's a favorite of mine. There is a story in Matthew 25 that talks about three servants who were all trusted with some “talents” which was an amount of money of great worth. Two of the servants invested and doubled theirs, but one buried his talent in order to give it back to the master upon his return. If you read the story, you'll find that was not the right answer. It's not the right answer today either. If you have something of value, make sure you don't squander it or stash it away. Use it to grow and add more!

Charlie Munger said "You're not going to get very far in life based on what you already know. You're going to advance in life by what you're going to learn after you leave here." Very nice. I think this was from a speech to a graduating class. I agree 100% with that! I learned quite a bit in school, but the most important things in my life... I learned before I ever went to school... and far after I graduated. Don't get me wrong... I love teachers... and I have some favorites... who made their impact on my life, but I know I learned more from my parents & grand parents. My neighbors and friends. And much more from my employers and co-workers. Real life is the REAL classroom... and you're tested often!

Phil Libin said "There are lots of bad reasons to start a company. But there's only one good, legitimate reason, and I think you know what it is: It's to change the world." Oh, I love this! I've started a few companies in my lifetime. Some were probably for the wrong reasons.... we sure didn't change the world! But some were more on target. Things that could make someone else's life easier and hopefully add value to their life. I've always strived to provide a good product... at a good price... in a timely manner. These three things were all something I looked for from the companies I worked with... so I wanted to make sure we offered them too! I think we usually did. If not, it was a rare exception!

Muhammad Yunus said "They said, we have education, but what about jobs? So I started telling them, you should be taking a pledge, and the pledge should be: 'I'm not a job seeker; I'm a job giver.' Prepare yourself to be a job giver." I love this. I've worked for many people in my life, but we've also employed many people too! It's weird to become an employer. I remember the very first person my wife and I hired way my youngest sister. That makes things even more bizarre, because now, in addition to being someone who loves his sister, I was also the person responsible for her making enough to pay her rent. I had to hold her accountable as a boss, not as a big brother. It was unusual, but it worked!
