Eleanor Roosevelt said "Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." I've had this quote submitted before. I remember how profound it was that we were discussing the IDEA of the quote, but we're also discussing the PERSON who said it. So, are we an example of a great mind... or a small mind?! Hmmm... maybe we'll never know! I've recently shut down more than one conversation with people who wanted to gossip to me about someone else. I paraphrased this quote and said I'd rather not participate in that kind of conversation. It feels wrong... probably because it is wrong!
