Bill Bradley said "Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in." This is such an important thing to learn. Ambition is so important. I know some very talented people who lack ambition. It holds them back in life. Their way more talented than the people around them, but those other people are more ambitious, so they keep being promoted and the more talented people stay put! One of the things you can to to stretch your ambitious muscles is to make a list of things you would do if nobody was able to tell you no. Then focus on one of those things until you get it done. Even if you need to work on it for a while. If you make that one goal your solitary focus with any and all of your spare time. You'll be amazed at how fast it happens!
