Isaac Newton said "In the absence of any other proof, the thumb alone would convince me of God's existence" I love this one. I thought this might be the origin of the term “rule of thumb”, but it is not. Our opposing thumbs allow us to do thing that most of God's creatures can't do. My daughter broke her arm when she was very young, then she broke her other arm a few years later. She was a little risk taker, like her dad, but I digress. When she had her cast on her broken arm, it made the use of her thumb more difficult. She could still use it a little bit, but with a tiny kid's hand, and a big thick cast, the thumb was a bit of a nub! I remember when that was happening, I started thinking about thumbs for the first time in my life. We're designed in an amazing way. I believe we mostly take that for granted!
