Simon Sinek said “Communication is not about saying what we think. Communication is about ensuring others hear what we mean.” This is a great point. Have you ever listened to someone give a speech and then wondered, what the heck were they trying to say?! I've been there. I was able to help someone prepare for a speech about a year ago. She gave the copy to me ahead of time. I read it and asked some questions. There were several things that were implied, but I didn't know if that was what she meant. She said “I think most people would know” so I said, then just come out an say what you mean, then everyone will know. She kind of chuckled, then said “this is why I asked for your help!” It's never a bad idea to have a second set of eyes look something over. I've been that person many times, and I've asked other to do that for me!
