Benjamin Franklin said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." That quote often comes up in the context of new technology and concerns about government surveillance, but many experts agree that it wasn't originally meant to mean that. Benjamin Franklin was a very smart man, he gave us inventions that changed the world at the time, but even he could not have imagined the world we live in today, with computers and phones and social media and AI! I believe he would be even more worried about those things, but that's just a guess. I actually read his autobiography many years ago. It was amazing to see inside the mind of a man like Benjamin Franklin. He was a great writer and probably a genius, but there were a few crazy chapters too!
