Welch said “Change before you have to.” I love this. I've worked
in the marketing world for over 35 years now. It's so odd to think
about all of the things that have changed in that time. I remember
when the phone book was one of the biggest competitors. EVERY
business was listed in there and many would pay to have their listing
bold, or they would buy and ad in they yellow pages part, OH, do you
know why they're yellow? The printer ran out of white paper. That's
100% the real reason. But back to the story. I remember when the
internet was new. Many marketers scoffed at it. I do remember one
company who printed phone books, they also started selling internet
listings. Many businesses thought it was trivial. Now that part of
their business is the main thing. Their phone books are now a leaflet
compared to their old books.
