Simon Sinek said “Good leaders share the credit when things go well and take responsibility when things go badly.” I love this. I've been on a team with someone who did the exact opposite of this. It was demeaning to everyone else on the team. It pumped up his ego, but it cost us great people who couldn't work with him anymore. I worked there for 364 days. I agreed to stay for a year when I accepted the job. I wanted to quit my very first day, but I made a deal with the company and more importantly with myself! I would not have accepted the challenge if I couldn't do it, so I had to prove to myself that I was who I thought I was. It was a rough year, but I learned so much. Many “what NOT do do” moments, but I learned and I grew as a person and as a leader. I am always happy to give credit to others. I won't win on my own.
