Charles Dickens said "Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts." Great advice. Not always easy to do, but absolutely something I aspire to do each day! I had a run in with a reporter who was looking for a negative story. I was involved in making a decision that the reporter disagreed with. Our whole board agreed and we stuck with the decision. This reporter wanted to do a negative story and I declined to take part. I was a bit rude to him, but only because he was rude to me first. After our conversation I kept thinking of a better way I could have dealt with him. I still don't know what was the right thing to say, but I know our decisions was right. I just don't know how I should have communicated that to a reporter who only desired to do a negative story. Next time it'll just be “no comment”!
