Pat Summittc said "It's harder to stay on top than it is to make the climb. Continue to seek new goals." This takes me back to 2005. I was a newly hired sales manager for a radio group. The team had not hit a goal in a while. I made some adjustments and we started hitting goals. Something I noticed though. If we had a really good week, it was usually followed by a not-as-good week. I found this pattern interesting, so I looked into it. We were celebrating our big win by letting some things slide a little. My boss at the time called it “resting on our laurels” which I thought was a funny phrase, but it was absolutely true! We would do really well, then internally we kind of thought, we're good, we don't need to try so hard. Then things would slow down and we'd hustle to get back on top again. Once you see it happening, you can avoid it!
