Coach John Wooden said “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” I know people who struggle with this one. I've had clients who have companies that are known for something that's not great. They overcome the shortfall, but people still remember them for who they WERE! This can be a hard one. Living in the shadow of who we used to be can be tough, especially if who we used to be is not great. My advice, fess up. Tell people in your marketing what your shortcomings were and how you fixed them!
