Simon Sinek said “Focus on long-term success, but be willing to make short-term adjustments to get there.” Very well said. I've used this example before, but it's a good example. If you're driving north but your destination is west, you need to turn to get where you're going. The sooner you turn, the better. If you wait too long, you need to turn around just to get back to the area. So the sooner you respond, the sooner you can make adjustments to get back on track. If you miss your exit and you adjust at the very next exit, that's completely different than missing your exit and staying on the wrong road for three hours. I've actually worked with companies who know they're going the wrong way, but instead of turning around, they seem to be OK with going the wrong way, but then they act surprised when they never make it to their destination.
